Dr. Khanna has been funded by the American College of Rheumatology Research and Education for past 3 years to assess quality of life in patients with gouty arthritis. Her long term goals are to design patient and physician interventions that improve patient-reported outcomes in patients with arthritides, such as gout. She is co-investigator on ACR’s current effort to develop treatment guidelines for gout and the NIH PROMIS initiative to develop a GI-symptom item bank. Other than being actively involved in the Crystal registry, a nationwide VA database of gout patients, she also works closely with OMERACT, an international collaborative effort on standardization of outcome measures in rheumatology. She has authored/co-authored several manuscripts in gout and scleroderma.
