MEDICAL RESEARCH: AIDS ASSOCIATED OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTIONS (OI). Our group is interested in their pathogenesis and how they have been influenced by antimicrobial prophylaxis (Pneumocystis carinii drug resistant mutations) and HIV therapy (HAART influences on OI rates).
HISTORICAL RESEARCH: EPIDEMIC DISEASES THROUGHOUT HISTORY. We are exploring how an inclination to use preventive measures to halt the spread of an epidemic reflects not only scientific proof, but also social values of various historical periods.
