Pediatric Exercise Physiology
Physicians are the only ones who may request an exercise study for a patient.
Study candidates are children (five years of age or older), adolescents and adults with known congenital or acquired heart disease (pre- or post-operative), rhythm disturbance, or suspected cardiovascular disease.
Studies include treadmill (Bruce protocol), six-minute walk and bicycle protocol. During the procedure, the health care team monitors and records symptoms, heart rate, blood pressure, ECG, oxygen consumption and oxygen saturation, at rest and during exercise and recovery.
The Laboratory for Pediatric Exercise Physiology is staffed by a team of technicians, physicians and nurses who are dedicated to providing excellent and safe studies.
