Family Medicine Program - Family Medicine Inpatient Service (UFM) - University Hospital
The Department of Family Medicine Inpatient Service (UFM) accepts patients from any of the Department of Family Medicine clinical practices.
Patients may be admitted directly or through the Emergency Department, or may be transferred to the UFM service from outside hospitals. Department of Family Medicine faculty physicians (Attending Physicians) assume clinical responsibility for every patient admitted to the service -- though resident physicians participate in the patient's care as well.
Patients requiring procedures by medicine subspecialists within 24 hours of admission or those requiring substantial subspecialist input for the primary admitting diagnosis typically will be admitted to the appropriate subspecialty service.
