Genetics - Outreach - Gaylord

The Division of Pediatric Medical Genetics provides service in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of birth defects, structural abnormalities, inherited diseases, chromosomal abnormalities and mental retardation. Among the conditions evaluated by this service are:

  • Autism/developmental delay
  • Biochemical abnormalities
  • Chromosomal anomalies
  • Cleft lip/palate
  • Congenital birth defects (all organs)
  • Congenital heart defects
  • Craniofacial abnormalities
  • Down syndrome
  • Ectodermal dysplasias
  • Fragile X mental retardation
  • Genetic counseling for disease, genetic risks and DNA mutations
  • Inborn errors of metabolism
  • Inherited diseases and structural abnormalities
  • Limb defects
  • Marfan syndrome
  • Mental retardation
  • Molecular genetic diagnostics
  • Neurofibromatosis NF1; NF2
  • Recurrent miscarriage or spontaneous abortion
  • Stillbirth or neonatal deaths
