Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine

Newborn infants cared for at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital receive technologically-advanced, specialized care from nationally-recognized neonatologists. We offer:

  • an array of specialized services including neonatal surgery, cardiovascular surgery, neonatal neurology, high frequency and synchronized ventilation, and a number of other therapies unavailable at most hospitals, such as hypothermic neuroprotection;
  • Therapeutic Hypothermia Referral Guidelines
  • special ground, helicopter and fixed-wing newborn transport service which means we can see patients from a wide geographic area when time is a critical factor;
  • faculty known as world authorities on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and ventilatory support, among other therapies;
  • and state-of-the-art facilities such as the Holden Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
