Neuro-Oncology - Multidisciplinary
Director: Larry Richard Junck, M.D.
The Neuro-Oncology Service provides expert care for adult patients with primary brain tumors and neurological complications of cancer. We are a medical service centered in the Department of Neurology. Care is usually provided in collaboration with physicians in Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, and other disciplines.
Patients with primary brain tumors are offered therapeutic options including standard and experimental treatments. Surgical treatments include stereotactic biopsy and image-guided resection. Radiation options include conformal external beam radiation using advanced image planning, stereotactic radiosurgery using a linear accelerator, and radiation-sensitizing drugs. Chemotherapy is administered through the Department of Neurology and includes standard treatments and experimental protocols.
Patients with neurological problems complicating cancer receive care focused on the neurological problem. In most cases the patient is followed together with a medical oncologist.
For most of our patients, we provide continuing management, but we are happy to provide consultations and second opinions.
Personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care is provided by an experienced neuro-oncologist and neuro-oncology nurse clinician.Appointment Number: 734-647-8906
