Pituitary and Neuroendocinology Center

Directors:
Ariel Lev Barkan, M.D.
William F Chandler, M.D.

Our Pituitary and Neuroendocrine Center provides timely evaluation and treatment of patients with disorders of the pituitary gland and surrounding area of the brain. During their first visit, patients are seen by both a senior endocrinologist and a neurosurgeon. Most laboratory studies can be done at the time of the first visit.

Our clinic evaluates patients with acromegaly and Cushing's disease, as well as patients with prolactin secreting or non-secreting tumors of the pituitary. We also evaluate and treat patients with craniopharyngiomas, meningiomas, dermoids, epidermoids, chordomas or other lesions in the region of the pituitary.

We offer surgery tumor resection (transsphenoidal and skull base surgery), radiosurgery, radiation therapy and every type of medical management. Physicians in neuro-ophthalmology, neuroradiology, neuropathology, neurooncology and radiation oncology are available for consultation.

The University of Michigan is a nationally and internationally recognized pituitary center. As such, we participate in clinical trials to test new compounds for treatment of pituitary diseases. Our patients have access to unique and effective therapies that are not available elsewhere.
