The Pediatric Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism Service accepts referrals for the evaluation and treatment of any condition commonly considered to fall within the broad areas of endocrinology and metabolism.
Common diagnostic categories include:
- Abnormal growth
- Abnormal hypothalamic and pituitary function
- Adrenal and gonadal disorders
- Calcium disorders
- Diabetes insipidus
- Diabetes mellitus
- Diseases and deficiencies of the thyroid
- Hypoglycemia
- Precocious puberty
- Psychosocial dwarfism
- Sexual ambiguity.
Special programs include treatment of the following conditions:
- Short stature with growth hormone
- Precocious puberty with gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue
- Delayed puberty
- Hirsutism
- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia
- Congenital hypothyroidism
- Diabetes mellitus basal/bolus and pump therapy with emphasis on psychological support for families and prevention of complications (multidisciplinary team).
