Blood Bank and Transfusion acquires, prepares, stores and handles blood products for adult, pediatric and neonatal transfusion. We also perform therapeutic apheresis (a procedure in which blood is collected, part of the blood such as platelets or white blood cells is taken out, and the rest of the blood is returned to the donor). Our blood products include:
- anti-Rh immune globulin
- blood cells
- cryoprecipate
- granulocyte concentrate
- plasma
- platelet preparations.
Ambulatory (outpatient) transfusions are available.
We are happy to provide medical consultation for transfusion-related problems.
