Head/Neck Cancer/Laryngectomy Rehabilitation

Speech-Language Pathologists assess and treat head/neck cancer patients, in conjunction with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, to facilitate voice restoration after laryngectomy. Tracheoesophageal voice prosthetics, with or without augmented communication (e.g. electrolarynx use) are a key component of the voice restoration program. Swallowing assessment and treatment is also provided. Additional services include dysphagia (swallowing) and speech assessment/treatment for patients with glossectomy.
