Urology - Pediatric
Pediatric Urology is a urological and surgical specialty that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of abnormalities involving the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra and the reproductive organs of children. Our pediatric urologists are board-certified urologists who have completed additional training in the evaluation and treatment of urological problems in children. They have developed special skills in working with the physiology of children and the conditions related to their genitourinary functions. These range from those which affect fetuses to older adolescents on the verge of adulthood. For example, we commonly consult and treat newborn babies who were diagnosed as fetuses as having a swollen kidney (antenatal hydronephrosis) and teenagers with varicose veins in the scrotum (varicoceles). - Ambiguous genitalia
- Antenatal (prenatal) hydronephrosis
- Bladder exstrophy
- Circumcision and foreskin concerns
- Cloaca and cloacal exstrophy
- Enuresis and incontinence
- Genitourinary trauma
- Genitourinary tumors including kidney tumors (Wilms Tumors)
- Horseshoe kidney
- Hypospadias and epispadias
- Neuropathic or neurogenic bladder / myelomenigocele /spina bifida / spinal trauma
- Posterior urethral valves
- Undescended testicles
- Ureteral duplication / ureterocele
- Ureteropelvic junction obstruction
- Vesicoureteral reflux.
