The Multidisciplinary Merkel Cell Carcinoma Clinic at U-M is one of the first multidisciplinary clinics in the country devoted solely to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with this rare type of skin cancer. Each patient seen in the clinic receives thorough and prompt diagnosis and treatment. Each patient is discussed at a multidisciplinary tumor board conference devoted exclusively to Merkel cell carcinoma. The team includes such specialties as dermatology, cutaneous oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, head and neck surgery, pathology and nursing. Great care is taken to work closely with the patient, family and community physicians to coordinate treatment and follow-up care close to home whenever possible.
