Transplant
Director: Jeffrey D Punch, M.D.
The Transplantation Division performs kidney, liver and pancreas transplants on adults and children. Kidney transplants are performed from deceased donors, as well as from living-related and living-unrelated donors. Our program is one of the five largest in the country. Most living donor kidneys are removed laparascopically. Liver transplantation also is performed on patients with advanced liver disease using liver grafts from living as well as from deceased donors. Pancreas transplantation is offered from select patients with Type I diabetes using pancreas grafts from deceased donors.
Vascular access surgery also is offered for patients with kidney failure in need of dialysis. In addition, the Transplant Surgery group has extensive expertise in the surgical treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders. Surgical removal of liver, bile duct, and pancreatic tumors (resection) as well as treatments to ablate, or destroy the tumor where it is growing, are offered.Appointment Number: 734-936-7491
