Refractive Surgery - W.K. Kellogg Eye Center
Director: Shahzad Ihsan Mian, M.D.
Refractive surgery at Kellogg includes LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis), LASEK (Laser epithelial keratomileusis), PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), and Intacs corneal rings and conductive keratoplasty (CK). Both LASIK and PRK use an excimer laser to change the shape of the cornea to reduce or eliminate myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The corneal rings are surgically implanted clear plastic rings that flatten the cornea to reduce or eliminate myopia. The rings are removable. Conductive keratoplasty (CK) is used to treat hyperopia.
