Social Work and Community Programs

The Turner Geriatric Clinic includes an active Department of Social Work and Community Programs which offers the following services to help adults over the age of 60 lead healthier and more satisfying lives. Most services are available to older adults and their families whether or not they are Turner Geriatric Clinic patients. Many services are free, and others may be covered through donations, fees or insurance. Scholarships may be available. Please call 734-764-2556 for more information.

Turner Senior Resource Center (TSRC)

The Turner Senior Resource Center, 2401 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor, offers a wide-range of social, educational and health related programs such as exercise, nutrition, cooking, health workshops, free blood pressure screening, Medicare/Medicaid counseling, support groups, computer instruction, social activities and the Tuesday/Friday lunch program. The Turner Asian Outreach Program makes many of these opportunities available in Chinese and Korean. The Center is a resource for information on community services, caregiver resources, assistive devices and health information brochures. Call 734-998-9353 for information. Silver Club Programs: Silver Club, Mind Works, Coffeehouse and Memory Keepers

Silver Club is a day enrichment program for people with moderate memory or cognitive loss. It meets four days a week at the Turner Senior Resource Center and two days at Brown Chapel AME Church in Ypsilanti. The structured program includes lunch, socialization, exercise, music, art and other activities. Three programs for people with mild memory loss meet one day a week to address different needs through cognitive gaming, learning about memory loss and reminiscence. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

Geriatrics Center Social Work and Community Programs, offers a a variety of stimulating programs, such as lectures, study groups and travel programs for persons over 50. There are no educational requirements, exams or grades. There is a $20.00 membership charge and there are fees for some activities. Website: Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
