Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - Inpatient Program
Medical Director:
Sheila Marie Marcus, M.D.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient Program offers inpatient psychiatric care for a variety of childhood and adolescent disorders. Disorders include developmental disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, as well as disorders that manifest themselves as disturbances in thought or conduct. Diagnosis and treatment are provided by a multidisciplinary team led by a physician, and including nursing, social work, activity therapy, psychology and school staff. Treatment can include individual or group therapy, family therapy, parent guidance and medication. The program also provides academic assessment and coordinates educational programs with local schools.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Program has a 15-bed unit in the Maternal Child Health Center. The length of stay is seven days on average but ultimately is determined by the patient's condition.
