Multidisciplinary Developmental Evaluation Clinic (M-DEC)

The Multidisciplinary Developmental Evaluation Clinic (M-DEC) at the University of Michigan Health System provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment of infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children under age of 6 years with suspected autistic spectrum disorders, including Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder and Asperger Syndrome. The diagnostic team consists of a Pediatric Psychologist, a Pediatric Neurologist and a Speech Pathologist. As this is a diagnostic clinic only, no intervention is available in this setting, but specific community and school-based resources are provided.

Physician referrals are needed for insurance reimbursement for the Speech and Neurology components of the evaluation. Most insurance covers all or part of the evaluation.

Please note: The Multidisciplinary Developmental Evaluation Clinic (M-DEC) is now part of Pediatric Neurology.
