Multidisciplinary Developmental Evaluation Clinic (M-DEC)
The Multidisciplinary Developmental Evaluation Clinic (M-DEC) at the University of Michigan Health System provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment of infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children under age of 6 years with suspected autistic spectrum disorders, including Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder and Asperger Syndrome. The diagnostic team consists of a Pediatric Psychologist, a Pediatric Neurologist and a Speech Pathologist. As this is a diagnostic clinic only, no intervention is available in this setting, but specific community and school-based resources are provided.Physician referrals are needed for insurance reimbursement for the Speech and Neurology components of the evaluation. Most insurance covers all or part of the evaluation.
Please note: The Multidisciplinary Developmental Evaluation Clinic (M-DEC) is now part of Pediatric Neurology.
