In our clinic, the specialists work side by side so you see every physician necessary in one visit.

Kidney cancer is the third most common urological cancer. There are a number of known risk factors for the development of kidney cancer including cigarette smoking and the presence of Von-Hippel Lindau disease. Historically, patients with kidney cancer presented with symptoms such as blood in the urine, abdominal and flank pain and/or the presence of an abdominal mass. With the more frequent use of CT scan, ultrasound and other radiology imaging techniques, it is now more common for patients with kidney cancer to have their tumor detected incidentally when an imaging study is performed for an unrelated reason. The presence of kidney cancer can be strongly suggested by the characteristics of a solid or cystic kidney mass seen on an ultrasound, CT scan or MRI of the abdomen. In fact, the initial diagnosis is often made based on x-rays alone; it is relatively uncommon to perform a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
