Jill Macoska, Ph.D.

Faculty Appointment: Associate Professor, Department of Urology
Additional Titles: Director, UMCCC Affymetrix and cDNA Microarray Core
Associate Chair for Laboratory Research, Department of Urology
Research Interests: Research in the Macoska Laboratory seeks to elucidate how normal paracrine interactions between epithelial and associated stromal cells in the prostate become dysfunctional consequent to the aging process, and how that dysfunction contributes to the development of benign and malignant proliferative disease. In particular, the laboratory is focused on the activation or repression of signaling mechanisms involved in cellular proliferation, cellular motility, and gene transcription by secreted inflammatory mediators, particularly cytokines and chemokines.
