Divya Patel, Ph.D.


 
Faculty Appointment: Research Investigator, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Research Interests: Divya Patel is a Research Investigator in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She received her doctorate in Epidemiologic Science from the University of Michigan in 2003. Her dissertation research focused on epidemiologic methods for assessing risk of acquisition and transmission of sexually transmitted diseases and other reproductive tract infections. Her research interests in infectious disease and women¿s health were shaped by her previous work experience at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia, where she spent one year in the Meningitis and Special Pathogens Branch, Division of Bacterial and Mycotic Diseases, and one year in the Women¿s Health and Fertility Branch, Division of Reproductive Health. Prior to joining the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Population Studies and Prevention Program at the Karmanos Cancer Institute of Wayne State University, Detroit. Broadly, her research interests include the epidemiology of gynecologic cancers and infectious diseases in obstetrics and gynecology.
