Dr. Avram's research interests center on Radionuclide therapy for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) and Thyroid Cancer, Quantitative I-131 imaging for accurate internal dose estimation in radioimmunotherapy for NHL. Developing imaging-based dosimetry protocols for NHL patients treated with I-131 tositumomab (Bexxar) radioimmunotherapy. Developing an accurate SPECT-CT imaging-based one marrow dosimetry method. Study the relationship between the administered radioactivity dose and the therapeutic response and bone marrow toxicity with the goal of delivering the optimal dose to the tumor while avoiding toxicity to critical organs. Study the use of neck ultrasound (US) and US-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy of cervical masses/lymphadenopathy and evaluation with cytology and thyroglobulin measurement in FNA biopsy specimens in post-operative management of patients with Thyroid Cancer. |
