Parking & Transportation Services has launched GreenRide - a Web-based, ride-matching system that makes car pooling easy. Go online, create an account and the system matches you with other interested employees who share your schedule and commute route.
Car pooling saves money, reduces parking and traffic congestion on campus, and improves the quality of the air.

Edward V. Loftus, Jr., M.D. will present Internal Medicine Grand Rounds at noon Friday, Sept. 12, in Ford Auditorium. Loftus' presentation will be, "Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Disease." Loftus is a professor of Medicine and is the director, Inflammatory Bowel Disease in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.

Register today for the MHealthy Fall Fitness Challenge, a six-week physical activity program designed to get you moving to maintain your current body weight and measurements by exercising at least three days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes each time.
For extra motivation, participants are asked to pay $15 to join. If all program goals are achieved at the end of six weeks, you will be eligible to win great prizes and can choose to have the $15 refunded or donated to the Cancer Survivorship Program for the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center. Fees given by those who do not meet program goals will automatically be donated.
Program success includes staying within two pounds and/or ½ inch or less of pre-program weight or waist circumference, logging activity minutes in the MHealthy Tracker at least five of the six program weeks, meeting the weekly exercise goal, and completing the pre- and post-program surveys.

Phase II of the Glen Ave. (M61) Parking Structure Repair Project is scheduled to be complete with previously closed spaces re-opened on Wednesday Sept. 10.
Phase III is scheduled to begin on Wednewday Sept. 10 and scheduled to last approximately three weeks with apprixmate completion date on Oct. 3. A total of 93 spaces are scheduled to be closed on Level 1, the ramp between Levels 1 and 2 and the ramp between Levels 2 and 3.
Alternative Blue Permit parking is available at the Fletcher Street and Palmer Drive Parking Structures. Parkers may also consider using Orange Permit parking in the Glazier Way (NC51) Lot or the Crisler Arena (SC7) Lot and taking the Commuter bus to/from the Medical Campus.
Your understanding and flexibility will be appreciated during these necessary repairs.

The U-M Center for Computational Medicine and Biology announces its Pilot Research Grant Competition for 2008 (FY2009). The goal is to bring together research faculty in different fields (computational/mathematical/statistical/informatics and biological/chemical/clinical/translational) in joint projects that will foster successful future proposals to NIH or other funding agencies. Applications must be submitted by two primary collaborators at U-M, one from each of the two different domains listed above. At least one investigator must be on the roster for the Center for Computational Medicine and Biology affiliate faculty.

We are seeking abstracts for poster presentations of original research involving stem cells for the first A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute Symposium Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Abstracts of research in basic science, curriculum innovation, clinical outcomes, health services, policy and methodology are welcome. We encourage abstracts describing current works in progress as well as completed studies. There will be three prizes for best abstract presentations: $250, $100 and $75. Criteria are originality of concept, sophistication of methodology and clarity of presentation.

If so, join us for Facing Forward, a free one day program for adult cancer patients who have completed treatment from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Courtyard by Marriott, 3205 Boardwalk, Ann Arbor.
The program includes lectures and breakout sessions on cancer survivorship topics, opportunities to meet other survivors and resources for survivors and caregivers. The University of Michigan has leased the City of Ann Arbor's Fuller Pool parking lot (north side of Fuller Road at swimming pool facility) from Tuesday, Sept. 2 - Friday, May 22, 2009. To park in the lot, vehicles will require at least a Yellow parking permit from 6 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. Gold and Blue permits will also be honored in the lot. Per the City's Ordinance, all vehicles must vacate the lot by 10 p.m.
Any special signed spaces within the lot are for the exclusive use of the Fuller Pool building occupants.
