ANN ARBOR, Mich. – This holiday season, the Chelsea Teddy Bear Co. has created a special teddy bear to benefit the patients and families at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital.

Donning a maize and blue T-shirt that reads “M GO BLUE for Mott,” these plush, 12-inch bears will sell for $16 each, with a portion of the proceeds going to the children’s hospital and women’s hospital building project, and the Patient and Family Centered Care programs at Mott.

Plus, each bear will include a tag with information about Mott that features the artwork of Mott patient Eric Fast and Evan Rhind, a sibling of a Mott patient.

Beginning Sept. 27, the Mott Holiday Bears can be purchased at all local MDen stores – including the store in Michigan Stadium – as well as at Laurel Park Place in Livonia and Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi.

In addition, on Oct. 1 the following Ann Arbor stores will begin selling the bears: Treetown Toys, Jungle Java, Jump City, Children’s Orchard, Nicola’s Books, Peaceable Kingdom, MidWest Financial Credit Union branches – including the branch inside U-M Hospital – U-go’s locations in the Michigan Union, the Michigan League, and in Pierpont Commons on U-M’s North Campus.

Mott Holiday Bears also will be available for purchase online from Chelsea Teddy Bear Company (www.chelseateddybear.com) and MDen (www.mden.com).

The Mott Community Relations office will be selling bears as well and accepting donated Mott Holiday Bears, which will be given to patients in the hospital during the holiday season. Donated bears can be dropped off or mailed to the Mott Community Relations office at 1500 E. Medical Center Dr., room F2519, Ann Arbor, Mich. 48109-5253.

“With the support of these local businesses and the support of community members, we are confident that this will be a successful fundraiser for the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital building project, and for Patient and Family-Centered Care programs,” says Kimberley Barker, manager of Mott Community Relations.

Adds Anne Berlucchi, who works in U-M Medical Development & Alumni Relations: “By giving the gift of this Mott Holiday Bear, you are giving a gift to the new C.S. Mott Children's Hospital & Women's Hospital and to all of our patients and families. We are so grateful for the assistance of our local philanthropic partners, and hope the community will continue to support this important effort.”
