| Evaluation Clinic (UMHS Outpatient Consultation Program)
|
| Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines |
The Evaluation Clinic is designed to prioritize UMHS referrals that do not clearly meet criteria for our sub-specialty clinics (e.g. Perinatal, Bipolar, Anxiety, Depression, etc.) and where the primary care practitioner might consider initiating and/or maintaining treatment, but requests appropriate psychiatric input.
We typically seek to establish a diagnosis, develop a treatment plan and refer patients back to primary care or refer out for continued psychiatric care. Some patients may be kept in ongoing care in our clinics in sub-specialty or resident clinics.
|
| Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit |
Please rule out medical causes (particularly important for panic/anxiety and atypical presentations). At a minimum, a basic work-up (including recent comprehensive metabolic panel, CBC, TSH) is requested.
