Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines Successful treatment of CRPS relies on an aggressive multidisciplinary approach that focuses on pain relief, physical rehab, and control of psychological dysfunction. Early referral is strongly recommended.
Complete H/P to rule out other systemic causes of symptoms
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit Clinical Characteristics: Spontaneous Pain, Allodynia, Hyperalgesia, Tissue Swelling/Edema, Temperature and Color Changes etc...
Imaging studies if indicated to rule out other causes
Referral to U of M Back & Pain Center for Diagnostic and Therapeutic treatments:
  1. Optimize medication management
  2. Sympathetic Blocks
  3. Peripheral nerve blocks +/- indwelling catheter
  4. Spinal Cord Stimulation
