Hepatitis B - HBsAg positive
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines
1)
CBC, LFT, PT, HBeAg/anti-HBe, quantitative HBV DNA by PCR
2)
Anti-HCV, Fe/TIBC
3)
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and RUQUS if clinical suspicion of cirrhosis or patient > 40 yr
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit
1)
Decrease or abstain from alcohol
2)
Hepatitis A vaccination
3)
Advise on precautions to prevent transmission
4)
Screen spouse and family members for HBsAg and anti-HBs, vaccinate susceptible family members
Patient Education/Information (includes preps)
1)
Hepatitis B
