Elevated Creatinine - Acute
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines If no clear prerenal or postrenal etiology, urgent nephrology referral.
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit
1) Urinalysis including microscopy, spot urine protein:creatinine ratio
2) Renal Panel (Glu, UN, Creat, Sod, Pot, Cl, CO2, Cal, Phos, Alb), CBC with WBC differential
3) Renal Ultrasound with Doppler evaluation
Patient Education/Information (includes preps) Kidney Diseases
Appointment Timeframe Should be managed urgently (within 1 week); if patient having a significant increase in creatinine and any delay in scheduling appt, consider immediate M-LINE consultation or ER evaluation
