Rheumatology Injection Clinic

| Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines |
Examples of target patient include:
- call-in patients who previously responded to injection and now want another
- call-in patients with localized flare in setting of established disease
- urgent referrals from primary care clinics or Emergency Department (diagnostic arthrocentesis and/or therapeutic injection)
- difficult joints/ e.g., hips, elbows, ankles, shoulders, carpal tunnels
- patients with knee OA for hyaluronate injections (use of ultrasound assures accurate intraarticular placement)

No preps necessary. When scheduling appointments information needed: Referring doctors name and phone #, and Injection site.
Ultrasound is used to guide most injections |
