Extremity Pain, Weakness or Numbness
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines Consider CTS for hand numbness, joint conditions for shoulder, knee or hip pain. Is there both weakness and numbness? Is there radicular pain? Is there a pattern? Is the illness progressive?
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit Depends on the area and symptoms. EMG if symptoms worsen or motor involvement is present
Patient Education/Information (includes preps) CTS, occupational advice, exercise as appropriate to condition
Appointment Timeframe Urgent if weakness or new onset radicular symptoms
