Chronic Pharyngitis/Sore throat
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines
1)Initial evaluation by primary provider to rule out common causes such as infection, or GERD.
2)If greater than 4 weeks duration, or associated with worrisome symptoms (odynophagia, dysphagia, hemoptysis, DOE, otalgia with normal exam, or weight loss), refer to Oto.
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit List of previous treatments given.
Patient Education/Information (includes preps)  
Appointment Timeframe 1) High risk pts evaluation in 2-3 weeks.
2) Low risk pts evaluation in 3-6 weeks.
