Spasmodic Dysphonia
| Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines |
Referral to local OTO for evaluation to rule out other laryngeal lesions and confirm spasmodic dysphonia as possible diagnosis.
| Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit |
If prior treatment, need specific information regarding nature of treatment, and copies of physician consultation and treatment notes. If prior Botox injections for spasmodic dysphonia, need specific information about doses and treatment interval.
| Patient Education/Information (includes preps) |
The initial visit is for consultation and examination only. If you are a candidate for Botox therapy, you will have to return on a separate day for your injection. An exception to this may be patients who have had prior laryngeal Botox injections. In these cases, direct physician to physician phone or letter contact is recommended prior to referral. |
