Midline Neck Mass/Suspected Thyroglossal Duct Cyst
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines
1)Consider trial of oral antibiotics if inflammatory neck mass suspected.
2)Immediate referral if symptoms of airway distress or suspicion of abscess formation.
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit
1)Thyroid ultrasound should be performed if mass associated with thyroid gland.
2)Thyroid function tests and a nuclear thyroid scan are optional.
