| Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines |
BP should be measured with appropriate technique on 3 separate occasions to confirm elevated BP
BP criteria

| Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit |
1) Comprehensive metabolic panel, CBC
2) FT4, TSH
3) Renal ultrasound
4) UA and micro, urine sodium, protein and creatinine
|
| Patient Education/Information (includes preps) |
High Blood Pressure and Chronic Kidney Disease in Children
Most patients with hypertension will require frequent or home blood pressure monitoring |
| Appointment Timeframe |
Stage II hypertension warrants urgent evaluation within a week- if symptomatic ER referral may be indicated.
Stage I hypertension 4-8 weeks or next available
