| Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines |
Treat with antibiotics. Children with high fever, poor intake, or significant pain may require ER evaluation and parenteral therapy. Ensure good fluid intake and treat any constipation. Following treatment place on prophylaxis with amoxicillin (20mg/kg daily) if <3mos or Bactrim (2mg of TMP/kg/daily) for those older.

| Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit |
Renal Ultrasound, Blood Pressure, Urine Culture, Urinalysis.
For febrile UTI recommend renal panel, CBC and CRP.
VCUG recommended for recurrent UTI, abnormal ultrasound or complicated pyelonephritis (can be scheduled day of appointment)
