Anal Cancer, including anal canal cancer in situ, (Bowen's disease), squamous cell cancer of anal canal, squamous cancer of perianal skin, verrucous cancer

Referral is indicated:
- If patient in UMHS system has suspicious anal skin lesion (firm, enlarging, exophytic, ulcerated, bleeding, non-healing).
- If biopsy has been done at UMMC and report in CareWeb, that is sufficient.

Patient not in UMH system should preferably have biopsy confirming neoplastic disease or cancer
- If biopsy from outside UMMC, pathology report for review by clinician is mandatory.
- If biopsy from outside and slides have not been reviewed by UMMC pathology, glass slides with report at or before clinic visit preferred.
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit
- Colonoscopy, with colonoscopy procedure report if not done within past year (to rule out other colon malignancy) suggested if patient >50 or at high risk. Need not be done prior to visit.
- If pathology is invasive anal cancer, CT with oral and IV contrast, of chest, abdomen, pelvis will be needed - report and images (preferably on CD) available for clinic visit.
