| If Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm is suspected,
consider a referral for an aneurysm that has one or more of these characteristics: |
| Measures more than 4.0 cm. |
| Is more than twice the size of a patient's normal aorta |
| Growth over a short period of time is significant (>0.5 cm/6 mos) |
| Symptoms are evident (back or abdominal pain) |
| Risk Factor Modification:
- Statin Therapy
- Smoking Cessation
- Aspirin
- Beta Blocker
- Lower Blood Pressure

| If none of the above characteristics are evident, consider a repeat US in 6 months to monitor patient, or a referral to Vascular Surgery. |
