Anemia: Hgb < 11.0 gm/dl and MCV 80-100 fl
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines

Obtain CBC, platelet count and corrected reticulocyte count

If corrected reticulocyte count is elevated (i.e., > 2.0%), obtain direct Coomb's test, serum haptoglobin, and LDH and schedule consult with hematology faculty who see benign disorders.

If corrected reticulocyte count is low (i.e., < 2.0%), obtain erythropoietin, serum creatinine, and TSH level and schedule consult with any specific docs in Hematology division.
