Urinary Tract Infection
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines 1) If patient febrile or has flank pain: ER
Otherwise:
2) Drink plenty of fluids
3) Pyridium for c/o burning
4) Antibiotic based on urine culture and sensitivity
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit Urinalysis and urine culture with sensitivities to confirm presence of infection
Patient Education/Information (includes preps) Urinary Tract Infections in Adults
Appointment Timeframe 1) If patient is unstable: ER
2) If patient not responding to antibiotics:
     within 1 week
3) Otherwise: within 4 weeks
