for Post Surgical Pain Syndrome

Post Surgical Pain Syndrome
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines This includes post amputation, post thoracotomy, post mastectomy, post herniorraphy and other post operative pain syndrome. A useful set of criteria to define post op chronic pain syndrome is:
  1. pain that develops after surgical procedure
  2. pain of at least two months duration
  3. exclusion of other causes of the pain
  4. exclusion of preexisting pain
Trial of anticonvulsant agents, and/or TCA's.
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit Relevant Medical History
Imaging Reports (X-Ray, CT, MRI)
Referral to U of M Back & Pain Center. Interventional options include nerve blocks, pulsed RF of the dorsal root ganglion, cryoablation, and spinal cord stimulation.
