| Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines |
Referral is appropriate for patients who have not improved after taking over the counter medications, or have sequellae of allergic rhinitis such as frequent otitis media, sinusitis, asthma, or nasal polyps.

| Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit |
Patient should abstain from oral antihistamines for 7 days prior to visit, when possible/practical in preparation for allergen skin testing. If patient is not able to stop antihistamines due to their symptoms, they should be informed to keep their appointment.
