Total WBC count >10,000/ul
Check CBC, WBC with differential, platelet count. Obtain erythrocyte sedimentation rate to exclude chronic inflammatory disease and exclude systemic steroid therapy before the referral. If isolated leukocytosis or leukocytosis with anemia, thrombocytopenia, or both, schedule consult with any Team 1 hematologist.
