Print This Page     Close Window Consult Request Guidelines for Proteinuria     Proteinuria Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines 1) Renal Ultrasound 2) Quantify proteinuria with spot protein: creatinine ratio or 24 hr urine for protein, creatinine, and urea nitrogen. Check Renal Panel (Glu, UN, Creat, Sod, Pot, Cl, CO2 , Cal, Phos, and Alb) at same time. 3) If heavy proteinuria (>3gm/d) consider GN workup (C3, C4, HIV, SPEP, Bence Jones screen-urine, Hepatitis B and C). 4) If significant edema, consider evaluation for other causes: echocardiogram, liver function tests.
