| Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines |
Does the patient have a history of episodic or chronic progressive neurological deficits?
|
| Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit |
Obtain an MRI scan of brain (including sagittal FLAIR and post gadolinium T1 sequences).
IF the patient has symptoms or signs suggestive of myelitis/ myelopathy obtain an MRI scan of the spine (including STIR and post gadolinium T1 or T1 FLAIR sequences).
Obtain visual evoked responses and the following serologies: Lyme titer, ANA, angiotensin converting enzyme level, SS-A, SS-B, anticardiolipin antibody titers.
Consider HTLV1 titer, neuromyelitis optica antibody titer, and/ or very long chain fatty if history and exam are suggestive.
