Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines
  • Evaluate for alcoholism, peripheral neuropathy, bowel or bladder dysfunction/incontinence, change in cognition, radiculopathy, weakness, consider HIV risk
  • History of cerebral palsy, polio, CVA
  • Family history of neurological disorders
    Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit
  • Consider TSH, T4, B12, folate, CBC, WESR, LFTS, fasting glucose, Hgb A1C, renal function and other tests of peripheral neuropathy, HIV
  • Geriatric patients with cognitive changes and incontinence, consider head CT
