Clinicians who are comfortable are encouraged to initiate a trial with an SSRI such as fluoxetine in patients who have clear evidence of anxiety disorders where rapid treatment or significant symptoms persist despite CBT. Patients should be re-assessed within 7-14 days for agitation and suicidality. All should be given contact information for psychiatric emergency services 734-936-5900. PES can assess suicidality after hours and on weekends.
