Thyroid Nodule
Suggested Pre-Referral Evaluation and Management Guidelines
Referral is indicated for:
 - Palpable nodule
 - Abnormal cytology on Fine Needle Aspirate of non-palpable nodule
 - Solitary nodule that is "cold" on thyroid scan
 - Visible thyroid enlargement, large goiter or substernal goiter (seen on chest film)
 - Hyperthyroidism in association with palpable (hot) nodule
 - Graves' disease with contraindication to radioactive iodine treatment
Suggested Additional Test/Management Prior to Specialty Visit

Lab tests: TSH and T4

Ultrasound and FNA reports if these have been done. If not, thyroid ultrasound and Fine Needle Aspiration can be done by Endocrine Surgery at time of clinic visit.
